Lessons Learned and Practice Pointers:

Regulators’ Perspectives Regarding Cryptocurrency Receiverships

As use of cryptocurrencies and the fraudulent schemes in which they may be involved accelerates, receivers and the professionals who assist them must prepare to locate, freeze, seize, and sell virtual currencies.  Several regulatory and law enforcement agencies have established task forces or specialized committees to investigate, regulate, or when necessary, enjoin investments or operations involving cryptocurrencies.  These agencies are ahead of the curve in dealing with the issues arising from cases and investigations involving these unique assets.  The distinguished panel presenting this discussion will share lessons learned regarding cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, and practice pointers for successfully managing a receivership involving virtual currencies and distributed ledger technology.
